James Wasurick Obituary

James Wasurick

Green Bay - James Noel Wasurick, 79, passed peacefully at home on Monday, July 5, 2021 with family by his side. James was born to Alvin & Ruby Wasurick, Sr. on September 1, 1941. Jim enlisted in the US Army & served at Fort Lewis in Washington state. After his years of service Jim worked with his father on Swaer's Mink Farm in Oconto and went on to drive truck for Arthur Swaer, Pensaukee until Jim was hired by Schneider Transport where he drove until his retirement . Jim met the love of his life Dede Rife in July 1980. They purchased a quaint farmette in Mill Center where Jim enjoyed gardening, working on his tractors, keeping his lawn up & his dogs. Jim & Dede moved to Green Bay in 2002 where they resided until his death. Jim had many hobbies. He was an avid Nascar fan & often enjoyed attending the races. He loved restoring his tractors & vintage cars in his spare time but he especially enjoyed road tripping in their RV. Jim often attended rodeos & traveled across the US. He liked visiting the "snowbirds" in Florida during the winter. Jim's most beloved pastime however was spending time with his great-grandchildren who melted his heart. Jim will surely be missed by so many family & friends. Jim is survived by his love Dede, daughter Tricia Wasurick; granddaughters Brandi Konop & Chelsea (Kris) Tourville of Green Bay; great-grandchildren Noah & Gabby Konop and Elise & Yannick Tourville; stepchildren Timothy (Heidi) Rife, Tina (Guy Hall) Rife & Todd Rife; grandchildren Melissa (Mike) Daniels, Ashley Rife & TJ Rife; great-grandchildren Nakita Waerzeggers and Logan & Lucas Daniels; sisters Judy LaFortune, Donna Bushmaker & Janey Belongia, Oconto. Jim is preceded in death by his parents Alvin & Ruby Wasurick, Sr. and siblings Alvin Wasurick, Jr., Jean Belland, Mary Mills, Roger Wasurick, Elizabeth "Betty" Wasurick, Susan Dumke and stepson Tony Rife.

The family will receive relatives and friends at the Gallagher Funeral Home, Oconto, from 11 AM to 1 PM Saturday, July 17, 2021. Memorial services will be conducted 1 PM Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Fredrick Schultz officiating.

Dede would like to extend a special thank you to their neighbor's Ron & Mae Mazola for all of their time & generosity keeping their lawn up & more during Jim's illness.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital & Unity Hospice.

I worked with Jim at Schneider Transport for a short time before his retirement. He was a very nice to a guy who was just learning the ropes. He was my first driver to retire. I truly enjoyed working with him.

I am very sorry for your loss. Jim and I worked together at Schneider Transport. I first met Jim in mid 1973 and I worked with Jim until he retired. Jim and I met for lunch with Bill Sullivan to talk about his antique cars and tractors. Jim was one of the most professional over the road drivers I had the privilege to work with at Schneider in my 37 years with the company.
Please accept my sincere condolences. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
Sincerely Yours
