Kenneth Dopp Obituary

OELWEIN - Kenneth D. Dopp, 85, of Strawberry Point and formerly of Oelwein, died Saturday morning, March 28, 2015 at the Strawberry Point Lutheran Home.
Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 3, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein, with the Rev. Connie Markle officiating. Inurnment will be in Campton-Oak Hill Cemetery at Lamont.
Family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, and after 9:30 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.

Kenneth Dean Dopp was born July 27, 1929 in Independence, Iowa, the son of Earl LeRoy and Deleva Ardus (Cook) Dopp. He graduated from the Lamont High School in 1947. On Feb. 12, 1950 he was united in marriage to Leone Evelyn Alderson at the Lutheran Church in Strawberry Point. Kenneth and Leone farmed in the Winthrop, Lamont, Oelwein and Fayette areas until moving to Oelwein in 1962. He also owned and operated First Avenue Auction in Oelwein and Hazleton for 20 years.
Kenneth was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church and Volga River Riders Saddle Club. He enjoyed horses, rodeos, auctions, dominos, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren.
Kenneth is survived by his wife, Leone Dopp of Strawberry Point; 5 children, Dianna Brandenburg of Oelwein, Darla Kuhens of Des Moines, Dixie (Harland) Olson of Solomon, Kan., Darin Dopp of Strawberry Point and Dacia (Jack) Fouts of Canton, Ill.; 8 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; 1 great-great granddaughter; sister-in-law, Barbara Dopp of Billings, Mont.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 brothers, Eldon Dopp at infancy, Dale Dopp and Delwyn Dopp; and a nephew, Barry Michael Dopp.
