Barbara Wynkoop Obituary

BARBARA J. WYNKOOP Barbara J. Wynkoop, 62, of Maumee, Ohio, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, May 9, 2025. Barb was born September 16, 1962, at the former St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, Michigan, the daughter of Francis J. "Joe" and Nancy E. (Goza) Ranger. She was a 1981 graduate of Ogemaw Heights High School in West Branch, Michigan. Barb met Timothy F. Wynkoop at the St. Helen Assembly of God church, and they were united in marriage on July 30, 1983, at the Houghton Lake Assembly of God church in Prudenville, Michigan. Barb worked for Walmart, Inc. her entire career, holding several positions over her 38 years with the company, before retiring in 2022. She attended Calvary Church in Maumee for many years, before being called to the Church of the Cross in Toledo. Barb's love of God, and for others, radiated through her involvement with the Missions committees, donations to the church food banks, and numerous quilts she lovingly made for the Quilts of Valor Foundation and Newborns in Need. She enjoyed working in the yard, and gardening, and was especially proud of her beautiful roses. Most of all, Barb loved her family, especially her three grandchildren. Surviving is her husband, Tim Wynkoop of Maumee, Ohio; daughter-in-law, Rachel Gilbert of Bowling Green, Ohio; three grandchildren, Graham, Leah and Jacob Wynkoop; parents, Joe and Nancy Ranger of West Branch, Michigan; brother, Joe (Basia) Ranger of West Branch, Michigan; sister, Nancy Jameson of St. Helen, Michigan; brother-in-law, Bob (Bonnie) Wynkoop of Prudenville, Michigan; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Barb was preceded in death by her son, Cpt. Jonathan F. Wynkoop; parents-in-law, Rev. Fred and Wilma Wynkoop; and an infant sister-in-law, Lisa Ann Wynkoop. Visitation for Barbara J. Wynkoop will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025, from 4:00 7:00 P.M. at Church of the Cross, 1750 Eastgate Road, Toledo, Ohio 43614. Funeral services for Barb will take place on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the church beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Joel Schutte officiating. There will be an additional hour of visitation prior to the start of the funeral service on Friday at the church. Graveside committal services will take place at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at Brookside Cemetery, West Branch, Michigan. Services are in the care of Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Bryan, Ohio. Memorial contributions can be direct to the Church of the Cross Memorial Fund and will be used for missions, including the church food bank.
