JEROME DINGS Jerome "Jerry" Eugene Dings, age 78, passed away on Friday, February 9, 2024, at the Villa of Rose City, Michigan. He was born on May 27, 1945, in Detroit, Michigan to Alexander Cowan and Madelyn Louise (Harris) Dings. He moved to West Branch with his parents in 1957 to help his dad build their new home on old family property. Jerry gained employment with the Operators Union and worked on many large-scale excavation projects throughout Michigan including the Ludington Pumped Storage Facility. He later started Dings Excavating so he could be home with his family. As life circumstances changed, Jerry chose to close Dings Excavating and become an independent truck driver, hauling mostly steel for industrial manufacturing purposes, until his health would no longer allow. Jerry will be remembered as a good guy who always had a smile and a smart*** comment; but he was always willing to help. If you were looking for him, you most likely could have found him at one of the many tables of knowledge at one of the local restaurants, pestering the gracious waitresses. He was easily likeable, fun, encouraging, kind, as well as sarcastic and a bit stubborn. He and his stories will be greatly missed. Jerry is survived by his son, Jasynn (Jenny) Dings; daughter, Jinjyr; grandchildren, Alexander, Isaac & Oryana Dings, and Jheri Miller. He was preceded in death by his brother, Alec Dings; parents; grandson, Elyot Andrew Dings; nephew, Robert Broyles; and sister, Joyce Broyles. The family would like to thank The Villa at Rose City for his care, including keeping him safe & happy and providing him with many great companions. He was truly quite content at the Villa as they provided him with what he enjoyed...people to BS, food and TV. No services or memorials are planned at this time.
