Died: July 30, 2025 in Byron, IL
Harlan "Hal" Rowland, lifelong Byron resident, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Wednesday, July 30th in Serenity Home in Oregon at the age of 93. Born September 7, 1931 in Egan, IL the son of Helen (Sloggett) and Lloyd Rowland. Harlan was a 1951 graduate of Byron High School and an Army veteran. He was married to Dixie Lee Kilgore over 65 amazing years. He was employed in Data Management at Sundstrand and retired from there after 36 years of service. Harlan was a charter member of the Cornerstone Family Church (formerly the Baptist Church of Byron). He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed his car club. One of Harlan's greatest joys was being surrounded by his family but his love for his wife Dixe was immeasurable. For the last 5 years as he's watched her mind fade away, his love for her never wavering and still driving to see her 3 times a week.
Survived by his wife Dixie of Rockford, daughter Cynthia (Don) Renfro of Byron, daughter Kathleen (Terry) Myers of Monroe Center, son Jim Rowland of Byron, Daughter Donna (Brett) Richardson of Colorado and son Richard (Dana) Rowland of Nevada grandchildren Alex (Vanessa) Boomgarden, Abby Boomgarden, Raidyn Myers, Amanda (Zach) Wadas, Anna (Chris) Kusnierz, Angela Renfro, Tyler Rowland, Alana (Gavin) Rowland, Jon Rothmeyer, Sara Rothmeyer, Jenni Simpson, Jamie Simpson great grandchildren Reyna Rothmeyer, Feiya Rowland Donnie Wadas, Raven Kusnierz. Sisters June(Don) Carlson, Tricia Bauer and numerous nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by parents Lloyd Rowland, Helen (Sloggett) Bauer, Stepfather Roy Bauer, In laws James "Abe" and Ethel Kilgore, brothers Howard Rowland, Glenn Rowland, daughter Lisa Rothmeyer.
There will be a Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 7th from 4pm to 6pm in the Cornerstone Church Fellowship room, Byron.

I knew Harlan from the 40's and 50's. He and Dixie visited my parents home quite often as my brother Blu and Harlan were good friends. May God bless Harlan and of course Dixie and the family With deepest regards and sympathy. Bob Boyer
