Adolph Thornton Obituary

Adolph Thornton, Sr.

Adolph Thornton, Sr., 74, went home to be with the Lord on January 12, 2004, at Akron City Hospital.

He was born in Akron and had lived in this com munity all of his life. He attended Ak ron Public Schools and was employed by Fred W. Albrecht Grocery Co. (Acme), where he retired. He was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, Deacon Board, Laymen's, Senior Choir and the Male Chorus.

Preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Evelyn D. Thorn ton, his son, Clarence Christian. He is survived by daughters, Charlotte (Charles) Cornelius of Tampa, Fla., Charlene Thornton of Akron; sons, Anthony, Erik (Kathleen), Kirk (Crystal), Adolph, Jr. Thornton, all of Ak ron, and Duane (Mayumi) Thornton of Yokosuka, Japan; brother, Bertram Thornton of Akron; sisters, Lorene Skipper, Rose Daniels, Thelma White, Catherine Harris, all of Akron; 24 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 19, 2004 at 11 a.m. at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, 180 Edward Ave., with Pastor Bell Smith Sr., officiating. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 707 Copley Rd. 44320. SERVICES ENTRUSTED TO RHODEN MEMORIAL HOME 330-724-1201.
