I was putting various names of people I knew in the past into my computer. I put in Al Richards' name and was surprised to see his obituary. I had Dr Richards for a few structural subjects at UA and served with him in ASCE. I always admired him. I am glad to see where he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. His wife Nina and I use to discuss Christ a various times and I know at that time Al was not interested in Christ. I am very glad he had a change of heart. I am now 90 years old and still going. My thoughts and prayers are with Nina and the family. Michael Buchtel of Medina, Ohio.

Dr. Richards was the BEST teacher I had at the University of Akron. He was very tough but very fair. The fear we had of him made us study extra hard to make sure we learned what we needed to learn to be able to work as professional engineers and serve the public. I am proud to be one of his students. God bless!!!

Hello Richards,
I graduated from the University of Akron in 1974 and Dr. Richards was one of my professors. He was a man of righteous character; an excellent teacher who was fair
and always willing to provide extra help to a student in need.
I am heartened by the second last sentence.....and being a follower of Jesus Christ I know I will have fellowship with Dr. Richards in heaven.
The LORD be with you!

Hi Marty,
I am so sorry to learn of your father's passing. I remember both of your parents from our time in high school. My Dad is 92 and living in a retirement community near me in Michigan. I hope you are doing well. I am getting ready to retire from my career in healthcare (end of 2016). I think of you often and our days as debate partners at Revere. I still stay in touch with Lee Smith.
All the best,
Nancy Schlichting
