Athanasius M. Barkoukis M.D., 94, husband of Dena (nee Anas tos); loving father of Kathleen Louis (Loizos), Carol Papamanolis (Nick) of Toronto, Canada, and Dr. Michael Barkoukis (Hope); devoted grandfather of Athan, Andrea, and Leah Barkoukis, and Demitrios and Teri Papamanolis; dear brother of Mary Gonis of Akron; and the following deceased, George, Paul and Nick.

Born March 10, 1909 in Corinth, Greece, his parents were Michael and Helen Barkoukis of Akron. He received his medical degree at the University of Athens and them immigrated to the United States, where he practiced family medicine from 1945 to 1985. He was an active member of the medical staff at Deaconess Hospital and Parma Community General Hospital until his retirement. He received recogni tion for 50 years of membership in the American Medical Association. Among his many other achievements, he was one of the founding fathers of St. Paul's Greek Orthodox Church.

Family and friends are invited to the funeral service Saturday, April 12, 2003 at 2:30 p.m. at St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 4548 Wallings Rd., North Royalton, Ohio 44133, where visitation will be held one-half hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul Church. Entomb ment Brooklyn Heights Mausoleum. Arrangements by Yurch Funeral Home, 5618 Broadview Rd., Par ma, Ohio. (216-398-1010)
