I just realized that Betty Had passed. I only knew her through her horses...well really just Chief Chelsea. I lived near him when he was in Indiana. We had bred to him then . After I was married I wanted to bred to him again and Betty had him by then. My husband and I took my mare to her Dun Roven Farm to leave her for the breeding.
We had our 2 month old son with us. Betty insisted we spend the night with her instead of starting the 5 hour drive back home.
She took such great pride in showing us her farm and horses.
What a Wonderful Lady she was.

I remember meeting Mrs. Woodling when her husband Gene Woodling was injured and was in St. Joseph's Hospital in San Francisco in 1948. My cousin and I were big baseball fans and Gene Woodling was playing for the San Francisco Seals. We were young teen aged girls and decided to bring him some candy and visit him in the hospital. Mrs. Woodling was with him and was very nice to us, as was Gene Woodling. We never forgot that visit and when he became a NY Yankee and in the World Series many times we bragged on this visit to our friends. My cousin died in 2008 at age 75 and I will be 81 next month. Time flies but I will never forget the Woodlings......RIP Betty and Gene.

Condolences to Aunt Bettys family. We will always remember Aunt Betty and Uncle Gene for her apaloosas and farm and his baseball -as well as their constant kindness and thoughtfulness. Aloha from Hawaii and from around the world - from the Edward and Marilyn Nicely family. Our Pop Ed was Bettys older brother.

Betty was my Mother Edi Nicely Hallett's cousin, and I remember her & Gene as warm, wonderful, gracious people. The last time I had the pleasure of talking with Betty was about 10 years ago when she stopped by my parents' house & we chit-chatted about old times, about Parkersburg, West Virginia, & shared family photos. I shall always remember that time fondly.
My thoughts & prayers go out to Kim and the rest of the family.
Rest in peace, Dear Cousin
