Charles Edward Forney (Chilli-Chuck)



Charles Edward Forney (Chilli-Chuck), 85, passed away on December 24, 2015 in Columbus, Ohio.

Charles graduated from Buchtel High School in 1948. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army and 10 years in the Reserves with an honorable discharge. He retired as Executive Director of Western Reserve Clean Sweep Program after many years of service. Throughout his career he also had other professional positions.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Essie Forney; brothers, John Henry, William and Walter Forney and daughter, Joyce L. Lee.

He is survived by wife, Linda Forney; sister, Delores Forney-Stone; brother, Doylan (Janie) Forney; children, Michael, Daniel, Ricardo and Alisa Forney, Faith (Kenneth) Shipp, John Forney, Yvette Hopkins and Darryl; stepchildren, Charles, Vanessa, Erica and Monique Winters and Daja Walker and Joy Davis; sisters-in-law, Ivaleen Forney and Betty Bowles; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Monday, January 4, 2016 from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at Sommerville Funeral Services, 1695 Diagonal Rd., Akron, OH 44320. Funeral service will immediately follow. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to 1112 Pickford Ave., Akron, Oh 44320.
