Charles K. Morgan

Charles K. Morgan, 95, died May 18, 2003.

Born May 1, 1908, in Lakewood, Ohio, he moved to Akron at age 7. He graduated from Kenyon College in 1930, and worked for the Sherwin-Williams Co. for three years before joining the family business, the Morgan Hardware Co., to devel op the paint division of the company. He served in the Navy for two years as a lieutenant in the Supply Corps in the South Pacific. On his return from the war, he continued to work for the Morgan Hardware Co., becoming president in 1959 and going onto head what became the Morgan Decorating Co., which specialized in interior design at their stores in Fairlawn, Barberton, and Stow. He enjoyed sailboat rac ing and was a past Commodore of the Portage Lakes Yacht Club.

A 30-year resident of Bath, he and his wife, Jean, moved to Hilton Head Island, S.C., in 1983, where they lived for 12 years. While living on Hilton Head, he was a member of the Hilton Head Barbershoppers. In addition, he obtained his Real tor's license and worked for Linda Lucas and later for Coldwell Bank er.

Mr. Morgan is survived by wife, Jean; daughter, Anne (William) Hyde; and grandsons, Jeffrey and Stephen Hyde.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the First Congregational Church of Hudson, with Dr. H. Richard Bucey officiating. Private interment at Rose Hill Burial Park. There are no calling hours.
