David Mealer Obituary
David "Dave" W. Mealer, age 47, went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2014.
An avid "toolman", Dave enjoyed using his tools and knowledge to give a helping hand to those in need. He was a generous man, loving husband, good father and awesome grandpa. Dave was looking forward to giving his grandson the best experiences life has to offer. He was always smiling, laughing, and joking; making those around him feel comfortable. Dave was passionate about his work, motorcycle, playing cards, and his many pets throughout the years.
Those preceding him in death are his parents, Herb and Pat Mealer; and brother-in-law, John Harris. He is survived by his loving wife of 18 years, Sheryl (Burton); daughter, Alexandra Dashnaw; grandson, Jacen (Carlos); brother, Greg (Tricia); sister, Janeen Harris; father-in-law (and partner in pinochle shenanigans), Bill Burton; mother-in-law, Jackie Burton; brothers-in-law, Rudy Burton (Renee) and Kirk Burton (Charlotte); sister-in-law, Becky Getz (Andy); many nieces and nephews; best buddy, Scott Martin; furry companions, Rocky and Monty; and a host of loving friends, co-workers, and family.
The family will receive friends Monday, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., and Tuesday, from 12 noon to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron, Ohio 44312. Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Uniontown Greenlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to your local Animal Shelter or Rescue.

Sheryl, I was very saddened to learn of Dave's passing. He was a good guy and one of the most likeable people I have ever met. I don't remember ever seeing Dave without a smile on his face and I will always have fond memories of the times spent with the both of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. To the family of David, I am very sorry to hear of David's passing. I am a project mangaer with Wood Electric in New Philadelphia. I have worked with David on a couple of lighting control projects recently at Dalton Elementary School and Smithville High School. David was without a doubt the best lighting control technician we have ever worked with. From my aquaintance and interaction with him, I am 100% positive that he was a fantastic family man as well. Once again i am very sorry for your loss.

Dave was the kindest, most compassionate person ever. I remember him bringing his dog to work many times. He always had a smile on his face and made us laugh. He will be greatly missed. My prayers are with you.

Sheryl, our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family, Dave was a one of a kind generous, compassionate, caring, loving human being!!!
