Dexter Rollins Obituary

Dexter R. Rollins

Dexter R. Rollins, 85, passed away peacefully Aug. 30, 2002, after a long illness, at Hospice Care Center.

He was born in Nat, W. Va., on Feb. 19, 1917, and was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army. He came to Akron in 1945, where he resided 57 years. He retired from Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. after 34 years of faithful serv ice. He also attended Uniontown Congregation of Jehovah's Witness es.

Mr. Rollins was preceded in death by wife, Laura Rollins and wife, Mary Alice Rollins; mother, Ellora O. Rollins; father, Asa E. Rollins; brother, Elmer B. Rollins; and sister, Balcus A. Gimel. His surviving children consist of daugh ter, Patricia J. Johnson of Akron; and eight stepchildren, James C. Wallace of Akron, Frederick F. Wallace (Beverly) of Akron, JoAnne Baranchik (Paul) of Akron, Larry A. Wallace (Judy) of Orrville, John A. Wallace (Sharon) of Heath, Ohio, Daniel R. Wallace (Jeannie) of Stur gis, Mich., Paul D. Nier (Susanne) of Carrollton, Texas, Rose M. Nier of Springfield; 26 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. We will all miss our father and our grandfa ther, his great deep love, caring and kindness he showed to all of us, and always being there for all of us, especially for our mother, Mary A. Rollins.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2002, at 11 a.m., Mr. Leonard Broyles speaking, at the Adams Mason Memorial Chapel, 791 E. Market St., Akron, where the family will receive friends Mon day, Sept. 2, from 6 to 8 p.m. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. (Adams Mason Memorial Chapel, 330-535-9186.)
