Donald Soltis Obituary

Donald Soltis passed away peacefully on April 7, 2011 following a brief illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Eva (Gallup) Soltis, as well as a brother and sister.

Donald lived with family in the Cleveland area before moving to Akron in 1989 to begin a new chapter in his life. ``Big D' will be sadly missed by his friends ``on Pickle Road' as well as the many he met over the years at his social clubs, most recently at REM and in past years at CYO and Hope Homes. He enjoyed his polka music, telling any new acquaintance that he was ``Polka Man'. He looked forward to every holdiay and had a talent of remembering his friend's birthdays. Above all, it will be his sense of humor that will be remembered - his goofy songs and sayings will not be forgotten and will often be be repeated. Donald touched too many lives to even begin to count - we are all blessed for the time we had with him. There will never be another like him.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Wischmeier-Buesch Funeral Home at 3111 Broadview Road, Cleveland Ohio 44109-3311. Calling hours will take place at 11:30 a.m. with the services scheduled immediately following at 1 p.m.

Donald has made the last 11 years I've been at Pickle fun and memorable. I loved him like he was my family. I will miss our "chews" our laughs and his smile waiting for me. He was a sweet man, and "his kate" will miss him dearly. Have a good nap with Bootsy Big D.xoxoxo
