Dorothy Davis Obituary
Dorothy Lou Davis ``Dot," 62, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 18, 2007, surrounded by family and friends.
Dot was born April 12, 1944 in Reptor, Ala., and was a resident of Akron for 50 years. She worked as a counselor at Garfield High School and as a private home health aide. She was a member of the Elizabeth Baptist Church and the lead singer for the Royal Angelettes for 45 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary L. Roberson-Bell and Chester Field Roberson; brothers, Fehoga Lee and Bobby C. Roberson. She leaves to cherish her memory, stepfather, John Bell; brothers, Joseph Richardson, Lary Roberson of Akron, Ohio, James and Donald (Valerie) Roberson of Houston, Texas; sisters, Estell Zachery, Ann (Chester) Holcombe, Martha (John) Freeman, Gloria (Henry) Spragling of Akron, Ohio; and a host of aunts, uncle, nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2007 at 6 p.m. at the Greater Bethel Baptist Church, 404 S. Arlington St., Rev. Samuel Searcy eulogizing and Rev. Milford Elliot officiating. Dot was awesome - i grew up in Elizabeth Baptist-- it was always great as a kid to hear her sing-- i remember when they put out a record - blew my 10 year old mind - from then i wanted to collect records and make them -- Thanks DOT -for letting GOD use You.. You and L.C., Made life Grand..

I remember hearing her sing when I was a very little girl and it something I will never forget. Some things you here as a child and they stick, well for me it was that beautiful voice. I did not know her personally but I do remeber her sweetness as well as that look of honesty. Some have that look and she did.

We will always cherish the memories of having the opportunity to appear on many gospel concerts with Dot and the Royal Angelettes in various cities. To: Deannie, Quickie, Duby, Stell, Sonny, Larry Lee, Joe, and Donnie, Dot and I was friends so long you all seem like my family. I know you will miss her, so will I, I'd rather hear Dot sing than anybody, but honestly I think she got Deannie prepared to carry on in her absence. Dot and I had so many good times together, and they overtook the bad ones we shared. Dot has paid a debt that one day each of us must pay. I am happy that her family honored her wish, she told me "Weezie" if I go before you make sure Quickie and Deannie carry out my wish, she did not want to be looked down on, so many years people looked up at her singing, and thats the way she wanted to be remembered, thanks Quickie and Deannie for honoring that wish. Dot you will be missed by many, I no you was tired, and you no what you want be troubled anymore, go on home and get your rest, one day we will meet again. I could write a book, but I will always remember Dot, and Deannie and Quickie if you ever need me, please call, I will miss "Dot" too, We met in the grocery store about a month ago, that was the last hug we shared, but I no through it all we loved each other. Prayer changes things.

Love ,Love,Love. you never know how much you Love someone until they are gone. I didnt always agree with everythng that Aunt Dot said but I understand now that she did have alot of wisdom about her. I did enjoy to hear her sing as alot of people did. she told me skeet just come on over and I can teach you how to sing too. I had the chance to be around my Aunt and seen the Love that she has for my dad and all her other sisters and brothers and I can say she was the link to the chain but that is ok because she gave them strength and the wisdom to carry on just like she did. She never let the devil take her joy and she continued to press her way. Now she is singing directly to the Lord face to face.

Auntie Dot was loved by everyone, I have never meet anyone that was as strong willed as Auntie Dot. Aunt Dot was very out spoken and always expressed exactly what was on her mind. Alot of people couldn't understand that. However, over the years as I look back she reminds me so much of myself. My mother would always say that out of all of her kids that my outspokeness reminded her of Auntie Dot.
