Eileen Bodendorfer Obituary

Eileen Bodendorfer

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holy Family Catholic Church in Poland for Eileen Bodendorfer, 59, of Saginaw Drive, who died Thursday morning at St. Eliza beth Health Center.

Mrs. Bodendorfer was born June 4, 1944, in Barberton, the daughter of Peter Paul and Ag nes Smith Jursik. She received a bachelor's degree in speech therapy from the University of Akron and a master's degree in religious education from Boston College. She had been employed as the director of Indus trial Information Education Insti tute. Prior to that, she had worked for the Diocese of Youngstown. She was a mem ber of Holy Family Church, the Ohio Education Association, and the Career Association. She was the recipient of the 2002 C.E.A. Outstanding Com munity Leader Award, recognized for her contribution to the C.E.A. Board, which she had served as a trustee for the past 10 years. In January 2003 the Ohio Council on Economic Education honored her with the Roman F. Warmke Award rec ognizing her work with Youngs town Satellite Center for Eco nomic Education.

Besides her mother of Akron, she is survived by her husband, James F. Bodendorfer; sons, Jeffrey (Kristin) Bodendorfer of Poland, Christopher (Melissa) Bodendorfer of Berlin Center; sisters, Joan (Marilyn) Cutshall of Tamarac, Fla., Diane (Joe) Shepherd and Darla (Bill) Meyer of Boulder, Colo.; brother, Paul (Carol) Jursik of Tallmadge; and grandchildren, Amelia, Adam, Lauren, Emma, and Aubrey Bodendorfer. She was preceded in death by her father.

The family requests that contributions be made to Beatitude House, 287 Lora Ave., Youngstown, Ohio 44504. Friends may call one hour before the serv ices at the church. Arrange ments by Higgins-Reardon Fu neral Homes in Poland.

Jim, I just wanted to say how sorry I was to hear about your wife. I know she has been suffering for quite some time but that still does not lighten the sadness. Although at times of sorrow there's so little words can say but may these words of sympathy help comfort you a little bit.
