Elizabeth Wright Obituary
Katie retired from the City of Akron as a Police, Fire and EMS dispatcher after over 20 years of service, and was affectionately known as "Cookie" throughout the Akron Police Department. A two-time breast cancer survivor, Katie was an avid supporter of the American Cancer Society and cancer research.
Katie is survived by her three daughters, Jeannie (Lee) Huffman of Lisbon, Ohio; Shane (Anthony) Alonso of Cincinnati, Ohio and Michelle (Dave) Garro of Akron, Ohio; grandson Bobby (Brook Faulk) Huffman of Lisbon, Ohio; granddaughter, Tabitha (Gerrad) Leary of Ligonier, Pa.; grandson, Joseph Garro; granddaughter, Megan Garro; nephew, Jeffrey F. Pajor of Berlin, Conn.; great-grandsons, Jax Huffman and Quinton Leary and great-nephew Jaxon S. Pajor. She is also survived by sisters Lynne Roethel of Berlin, Conn. and Antoinette (John) Pajor of Berlin, Conn. and cousins Lila (Mogens Anderson) Towle of Lindum, Denmark; Anne (Robert Lohaus) Wright of Hartsdale, N.Y; and Nancy-Shantia (Jonathan) Wright-Gray of Ocean Park, ME. Katie is also survived by her many friends from the Akron Police and Fire Department, all of whom she loved working with and who were very special to her.
Calling hours will be Monday, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., Akron, Ohio 44304.

My deepest sympathies to Dave & Michelle Garro and to all of Katie's family and friends.
I knew Katie as a police officer with Akron police department when Katie worked in the communications department. I loved Katie's positive spirit and attitude, Katie was genuinely a kind and caring person who loved people and her job and her communications department police and fire family she worked with especially my brother Tom Shumaker.
I was so saddened to hear of Cookies passing, Katie is now rewarded with a special place in heaven, rest in peace my friend.
