Dear LaVonne and Family, I only learned of Emil's passing today. He was a member of the Prevent Blindness Board of Directors when I joined the organization as CEO 30 years ago. He was always a good friend to PBO and to me. And, an outstanding leader and contributor in the community. Please accept the condolences of our board and staff in his passing.

Dear LaVonne and Family, We were so very saddened to learn of Emil's passing, but also rejoicing that he is at home with the Lord he loved and served so much. We are sorry that we could not attend the services as we are out of town. We will always remember Emil's enthusiastic support of our Summer Concert Series at The Botzum Farmstead. Love and prayers, George and Maureen Winkelmann

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. and Mrs. Voelz a few years ago when they shared seats next to my family's seats at E.J. Thomas as season subscribers to the Akron Symphony Orchestra. I was fortunate enough to get to know both of them well during several seasons of the orchestra and sitting next to each other. I always looked forward to seeing Emil and hearing what new things he had to tell me about the goings on in their lives before the start of each concert. In 2010 I was relocated out of Akron for my job, but enjoyed getting together with Emil and Mrs. Voelz for dinner at holidays when I came home for visits. I truly enjoyed getting to know them the last several years.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. Akron lost a great man this week.
