Florence Jesser Obituary
Florence Jesser, 92, passed away peacefully May 12, 2017 at Concordia at Sumner in Copley after a short illness. She was born August 27, 1924 to Barbara and Joseph Jesser and lived in Akron her entire life.
After graduating from South High School in 1942, she worked in her father's tavern, Jesser's Tap Room, for many years. Later, she worked as a secretary at Lawson's/Dairy Mart for 26 years, retiring in 1993. She was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church and served on many service and social projects there. Florence was a hard-working, independent person who was very loyal to her church, her family, and her friends. She will be dearly missed by her loved ones, especially her sister, Agnes.
Preceded in death by her parents; her brothers, George and Ernest, and dear brother-in-law, Edmund Sunday; nieces, Barbara Sunday White and Carol Jesser Disbrow. Florence is survived by sister, Agnes Sunday; brother, Fred; nieces, Florence (Gary) Liedel, Georgeanna (Stephen) Stoner, Michele (David) Whitehurst, Teresa (Bruce) Forney; nephews, Joseph, Jeffrey, EJ Jesser, Edmund (Carolyn) Sunday, Michael (Paulette) Jesser; and many close family members and friends.
Friends may visit with the family from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Friday, May 19th at Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Our Lady of the Cedars Maronite Catholic Church, 507 S.
