Floyd Conant Obituary

"TOGETHER AGAIN"

Floyd S. Conant

Floyd S. Conant, 90, formerly of the City of Green, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Aug. 19, 2005, at Chapel Hill Community, surrounded by his loving family.

Floyd was born Nov. 27, 1914, in Wirt County, W. Va. He began his professional career teaching chemistry and mathematics at Wirt County High School before moving to Ohio. There he joined Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. as a research physicist, retiring in 1980 after 38 years of service. Floyd was a devoted member of Goss Memorial Church, where he served as a deacon. He was very active in the King's Herald Bible Class and often enjoyed teaching Sunday School. Floyd was a Biblical wealth of knowledge and compiled an extensive book of notes from his lifelong studies. Floyd enjoyed being outdoors working in his yard, and enjoyed playing chess, especially with his great-grandsons. Floyd and his wife Ruby enjoyed traveling and together toured 48 countries.

Floyd was preceded in death by his loving wife of 64 years, Ruby, in 2002; parents, Nelson and Laura Conant; brothers, Virgil and Ramon Conant. He is survived by his son, John (Joy) Conant of Canal Fulton; daughter, Ann (Doug) Endsley of Akron; grandchildren, Deborah Endsley, Charlene (Ernie) Kemppel, and Michele Taylor; nephew, Mike (Joyce) Lett; brother-in-law, Joe Lett of Louisville, Ky.; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family cannot put into words how much they appreciate what the entire staff of Chapel Hill Community has done for Floyd. They went above and beyond any expectations we had, and we feel in our hearts that Floyd had the best care possible. Again we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Friends may call at the Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd. on Wednesday from 5 to 7 p.m., and a half-hour prior to the service at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, Pastor Bud Couts officiating.

Interment at Greenlawn Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Goss Memorial Church, 2247 11th St. S.W., Akron, Ohio 44314, in memory of Floyd.Funeral home map, directions, and the Conant Family condolence book are available at www.bacherfuneralhome.com. (Bacher, 330-644-0024.)
