Inez Jones Gibson

Inez Jones Gibson, age 82, passed away Friday, March 12, 2010.

Inez was born December 15, 1927 in Akron, Ohio to the late Victoria Grant Jones and Lorenzo Jones. Inez resided in Akron until health caused her to move to Columbus, Ohio in 2002 to be closer to her sister, Loretta Heard. While residing in Columbus, she became a member of Smyrna Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 34 years, Amos Gibson. Although Inez and Amos had no children together, they were devoted to their many nieces and nephews. Inez was also a very dedicated employee whether she was working as a receptionist for Dr. Bozeman, a librarian at Akron University Library, an agent at the Akron Office of the Social Security Administration and as a caregiver at the Veteran's Hospital in Brecksville, Ohio. In addition to a great work ethic, Inez had a sharp wit and a good sense of humor that was often enjoyed by her many family members and friends.

Inez was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Forrest Jones; sisters, Martha Jones Turner and Loretta Jones Heard; and dear nephew, Neal Douglas Turner. Inez is survived by brother-in-law, Hubert Heard, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 11 a.m. at Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 785 S. Main St., Akron, OH 44309, Rev. Shawnte Hardin officiating. Interment at Mt. Peace Cemetery. Friends may visit at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service. Condolences may be sent to 1732 Cole St., Columbus, OH 43205.
