James Nofsinger Obituary

James Hoyt Nofsinger

James Hoyt Nofsinger, 90, went home to be with His Lord on December 2, 2014.

He was born on August 17, 1924 in Midland, Kentucky to Howard and Hazel Nofsinger. He married his devoted wife of 68 years, Marie Mahan, on February 16, 1948. e served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He worked first as a newspaper boy, then at Mahan's Service Station, then Firestone, but spent most of his career in sales with Fuller Brush and insurance. Hoyt was a charter member of West Hill Baptist Church and, over the years, served in various capacities. A man devoted to God, his wife and family, he was always willing to share his faith. He led home Bible studies and served as a spiritual mentor to many.

He was much loved and respected by family, friends and aquaintances. His work ethic, humble, honest and kind nature was always evident to all.

A favorite Bible verse was 3 John 1 "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth."

Hoyt had excellent and compassionate care over the years by Dr. Toni King who helped manage his 60 years of Type 1 Diabetes. Lou Bailey, CNP, displayed great expertise in managing his last years of health.

He is survived by his wife, Marie Mahan Nofsinger; three children, Terrie (Don) Ferrell of Hampshire, Ill., Jim (Brenda) Nofsinger of Princeton, W. Va., Cathy Shafer of Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio; and brother, Eugene (Colleen) Nofsinger of Hartville, Ohio. Hoyt and Marie enjoyed their eight grandchildren, Brent, Lissa, Greg, Amy, Lori, Jenny, Stephen and Amanda; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Greeting him in heaven are his parents; brothers, Bobby and Billy; and great-grandson, Tyler Thyng.
