James Patrick Obituary

James C. Patrick

James C. Patrick, 67, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2017.

Jamie was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on July 29, 1949 to the late William B. and Bernice W. (nee Jordan) Patrick.

He graduated from East Liverpool High School in 1967 and from the University of Notre Dame (South Bend) in 1971 with a degree in Communications. A lifelong Akron area resident, he worked locally in advertising. He loved the Ohio River, camping, hiking in the woods, canoeing on the Cuyahoga, horseback riding and creating metal sculpture with his welding skills. He was an all-around handyman and bon vivant.

He is survived by brothers, Charles M. Walsh and William F. Patrick; aunt, Sophia Mackey; cousins, Pola (Mike) Ochsenhirt and Tamara (Tom) Slopek; second cousins, Jacob Ochsenhirt, Annie (Chris) McFadden, Eric (Jennifer) Ochsenhirt; nephew, Michael (Debbie) Walsh and their sons, Michael and Brian; and other relatives and friends.

Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Celebration of his life is planned for family and friends by invitation.

I am very surprised and saddened to read of Jim Patrick's untimely passing. Jim worked for me in the Newspaper Ad Dept. of the Firestone Tire & Rubber Co. He was a pleasant, good-natured young man at the time (in the 1970s). I still have a book that was signed by Jim and co-workers and gifted to me when our department was disbanded. I think that some close to Jim referred to him affectionately as "Jamie."
I lost track of Jim when he began to work for a publishing company in Cleveland, as I remember. We had a common interest in East Liverpool as he was from there and I lived there decades earlier when my Dad worked for the East Liverpool Review. My condolences to Jim's
family who will miss his good humor.
