James Rice Obituary
James (Jim) Rice, 65, was called home to the Lord on May 10, 2016 in Charlotte, N.C. He is a native of Akron, Ohio and will return home to Akron as his final resting place.
Jim graduated from Buchtel High School and attended the University of Akron. He had a long, successful 48-year career with McDonald's. He owned and operated 13 McDonald's restaurants with his family in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Joseph Rice Sr. Jim is survived by his wife, Edith of 45 years; his two daughters, Michele Rice and Melissa Rice; son, James L. Rice II; seven grandchildren, Brittany and Christian Neal, Taylor Rice, Corwin Johnson, Bria Ekweozor, Alyssa Stukes, Nehemiah Rice; six great-grandchildren, Mikayla, Arianna, Skylar, Christian Jr., Aniyah, and Jeremiah all of Pittsburgh, Pa; mother, Carrie Rice; brother, Joseph Rice Jr. (Robin); sister, Claudette (Danny) Hopkins of Akron, Ohio; aunts, uncles, many nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of dear friends.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on May 21, 2016 at the House of the Lord, located at 1650 Diagonal Road, Akron, OH 44320, with funeral services immediately following at 12 noon. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Arrangements are through Catavolos Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Ronald McDonald House of Pittsburgh in memory of James L. Rice.
