To the Shropshire family, I know he ran through the gates when he got into Heaven, so many loved ones who had gone on before did he want to see. Most of all, he was ready to see Jesus and I know he is resting peacefully. Farewell brother, we'll meet again. Know that God will not leave us comfortless in the loss on this side of glory of our dear brother and friend James.

I remember Rev. Shropshire watching James Jr. and I play basketball in their driveway. When the games got a little heated, the good Reverend would pop his head out and order would quickly be restored. To me, he was a man of quiet dignity and grace.

My sincerest condolences to my old friend James and the rest of the Shropshire family.
