James Tucker Obituary
Bro. James Charles Tucker, 86, went home to be with the Lord, March 5, 2014, after a long illness.
Bro. James Charles Tucker was born May 18, 1927 in Gullick, Arkansas to the late Isaac and Eva Tucker. He grew up in Bastrop, Louisiana. Later, he moved to Akron, Ohio and attended West High School. He married Verna N. Blake and to their union one son was born. He was a World War II, U.S. Army/Air Force Veteran. After an honorable discharge, he returned to Akron and was employed by Firestone Tire & Rubber for 43 years and 9 months. He loved spending time working in his yard and it was always neat and beautiful. He loved sports, music and his family, especially his mother and grandchildren.
Bro. James Charles Tucker was preceded in death by his wife for 59 years, Verna N. Blake and his brother, Charley Terry Tucker. He leaves to cherish his memories, one son, Master Roderick W. (Marla) Tucker; three grandchildren; brother-in-law, Willis Jones; two sisters-in-law, Jewell Jones and Maxine E. Blake; as well as nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 13, 2014, at 12 noon at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, Ohio 44307, Pastor Dennis K. Butts eulogizing. Interment at Ohio Western Reserve Cemetery. Friends may visit at the chapel from 11 a.m. until time of service. Procession will form and condolences may be sent to 761 Bisson Ave., Akron Ohio 44307.
