Jeffrey Ellis Obituary
Jeffrey E. Ellis, 71, passed peacefully in Chicago, Illinois on October 6, 2015.
He was a former resident of Ashtabula, Ohio, where he cofounded JDs Pizza, in 1976. He graduated from Buchtel High School in 1962 and shortly after high school went on to fight in the Vietnam War. Jeff loved sports. He was an avid Browns fan and softball coach to his daughters for many years, often seen "living" at Cedarquest Park, in Ashtabula. He was proud of the years he spent mentoring many employees during his time as a regional manager at Red Barn and various other restaurant ventures.
He is survived by sisters, Elaine Helton and Corrine (William) McFrye; close friend, DeeAnn Ellis; sons, Keith (Todd) Ellis, Michael Morgan; daughters, Michelle (Vince) Charles, Shannon (Dave) Young; grandchildren, Megan, Andrew, Noah, Moses, Morgan, Vinnie, Joshua, Olivia; great-grandchildren, Aiden and Asher. He was uncle and great uncle to many.
His parents, Roger and Elizabeth Ellis preceded him in death, and his brother, Roger. Many will miss him.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:30 a.m. at Rittman Cemetery, 10175 Rawiga Road Seville, OH 44273. Followed by a short memorial service at Saint Joseph Melkite Church, 600 W Exchange St., Akron, OH 44302 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Jeffrey's name to the amazing men and women who served our country by mailing to Jesse Brown VA Medical Center, Attention: Patrick Gleason, Chief Director of Voluntary Services, 820 S. Damen Avenue, Chicago, IL 60612 or online at www.volunteer.va.gov/apps/VolunteerNow/default.asp.

Uncle Jeff was a wonderful man. One of my fondest memories of him is he used to babysit me and my brothers and he was the funnest ever. Over the years I tried to keep in touch with him, but time fly's so fast. He was loved by many and will be tremendously missed. Rest in peace my wonderful uncle. I always loved you!!
