Joanne King Obituary
Joanne (Starks, Kastelic) King, 81, passed away on December 22, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Grace (Gaughan) Starks and her father, Emmett Starks.
She will be missed by seven children, Katherine Reynolds (Mike), Kevin Kastelic (May), Joseph Kastelic (Teresa), Sue Williamson, Tim Kastelic, John Kastelic (Margaret), Jeff Kastelic (Julie); sisters, Patricia Feighan (Joseph) and Beverly Sweeney (Thomas); brother, Emmett Starks (Judy); 17 grandchildren.
Joanne was a graduate from the University of Akron (Masters in Music Education, 1989), Ursuline College (1958), and Lakewood High School (1954). She attended Christ the King Elementary school in Cleveland. She retired as an educator of music from the Akron Public School system.
Joanne was devoutly Catholic, enjoyed praying the Rosary, and was committed to pro-life causes, having served as the Director of Development for the Ohio Right To Life.
The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at the Hospice of Medina County for their kindness and care, as well as the loving nurses and staff of Maple Terrace Orrvilla Retirement Community.
Visitation will be at the Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel, 85 N. Miller Rd., on Thursday, December 28, from 4 to 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 606 E. Washington St., Medina, on Friday, December 29, at 11 a.m. Interment at St. Joseph Cemetery in Avon. For more information or to share a memory please visit www.billowfuneralhomes.com.
