He was a life long resident of Kenmore. John was retired with 19 years working for Kustom Fence of Barberton. He was a member of the American Legion Squad No. 449.
He was preceded in death by his father, John A. Ahlstrom; mother, Phyllis K. Kime; stepfather, William "Tippy" Gray; brother, Rexford Hay; and granddaughter Ashlie L. Keefer.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; sons, John P. (Danyel), James A. Sr. (Delores), Joshua L. (Justina); daughter, Jessica (Chris); stepdaughter, Kathleen L. Bergreen (Nick); sisters, Sandra (Jerry) Parsons, Peggy Mayes and Lisa M. (Jim) Leonard; grandchildren, Justice, Camden, Erik, Cristen, James A. Jr, and Joshua; many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial service will be 6 p.m. Monday, December 5, 2005 at Kenmore Church of the Nazarene, 2025 12th St. S.W. in Kenmore. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family c/o Adams-Mason Memorial Chapel, 791 E. Market St., Akron, Ohio 44305. (ADAMS-MASON, 330-535-9186.)
