My Uncle John was quite the character - always had to be doing something for someone. Full of so much energy! Some of my favorite memories are thanks to him, like going roller skating when I was probably like 4 years old or something and he'd swing me around the rink! Of course there's been so much since then, too. We'd go camping, to softball games, he even took us to Build-a-Bear in Columbus once, which was quite the experience!
One thing is for sure - he loved his family and that's what kept him so strong for so long. He was also so proud of all his kids and grandkids and I know that he always will be! I know so much of his energy and love lives on in all of you!!
I'm used to seeing my Uncle John and Aunt Sandy every Sunday - ever since I can remember. So, things will be pretty different. But, Uncle John, I know that you'll still be right there with us. Thank you for all the great memories! We love you and miss you very much!

John was one-of-a-kind. A quiet, cerebral guy, he was the antithesis of the big, dumb, cop. One of the nicest human beings anywhere, John was always smiling. I am privileged to have worked with him on both the Akron Police Department and on the faculty of the University of Akron. My condolences to all who will miss him.
