John G. Lim, 83, passed away Monday, Sept. 4, 2006.
John was born in mainland China on Oct. 23, 1922. His family relocated during World War II to the Philippines, where they established the Lim-Bonfing hardware business. John graduated from the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery at the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. He married Leng-Bian Yu and emigrated to Cleveland in 1952. John was a pathologist at Akron City Hospital from 1960 until his retirement in 1994.
In his retirement, John enjoyed reading, watching movies and sports, playing mah-jongg, and spending time with his grandchildren. After his wife's death in 2000, he moved from his Richfield home to Bath to live with his daughter, Dorothy, and her family. John recently said that his proudest achievement was coming to the United States with nothing and putting his four daughters through college.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leng-Bian Yu, and is survived by his four daughters, Marie (Carl) Lim-Bonner, Dorothy (Jeff) Truax, Tina (Jim) Lim-Fulton, and Melissa (Leigh Kimberg) Lim; his grandchildren, Allison, Michael, and Bethany Truax, Nicholas, Kyle, and Leah Fulton, Amanda and Ian Lim-Bonner, and Samuel and Abigail Lim-Kimberg.
There will be a private entombment at Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends and family may make memorial contributions in John's memory to the Acute Palliative Care Unit at Summa Health Systems.

He was an inspiration to me as a next door neighbor in the 1950's and he and his wife Bien, invited us to dinner and introduced me to Chinese food which I never would eat and I've loved it ever since. They were wonderful neighbors to us in our first home and they had beautiful daughters. My wife, Bev died in 2017, but I'm still around at age 90, but I still remember our wonderful neighbors on Delia Ave/
