John had a heart as big as his belly. I will miss him alot. He has done so much for me and my family and I will never be able to thank him for everything he has done. He was the father I never had, there will not be a day that I will not think of him.

I was saddened to hear the news of John's passing. I worked with John in the 80's at Bridgestone and what I remember most was his sense humor and his easy-going, fun-loving attitude. He was always a great host to his Bridgestone friends as owner of the Ido Cafe. I think he taught many of us some positive life lessons. My deepest sympathies...

I am sorry for your loss. I did not see John for a long time but I remember him with a great sense of humor. One of the most important traits a person can have.

Cousin John was such an amazing person. Always laughing and teasing. I remember so many times when he would appear at the house with a pizza from Guiseppe's or would drive up to Caldoon just to hang out for a while. I know my dad always looked forward to hearing his funny stories and my mom always looked forward to the teasing. My grandma and grandpa looked forward to the phone calls and visits. I will miss his kind heart and his laughter. He was a special person who touched the hearts of so many around him, not only those in his family. It was an honor to know him. We miss him deeply and are so sorry for his loss.

I knew John practically his whole life as we were in the same rooms at Voris Grade School. He lived in the neighborhood and I would see him often. He was always friendly and happy. I remember how gracious he was to open up the Ido Cafe for a Garfield Class Reunion. What a giving individual. I will miss him!

Cousin John and I generally tormented one another as children but as adults, we reserved 8:30am on Saturdays to talk. Our weekly phone calls kept me up-to-date on the family spread across the country and through him I “watched” his kids grow up.
I know John considered himself very fortunate because he lived the life he wanted -- traveling, owning the Ido, teaching at Kent, listening to polkas, and most importantly, laughing, playing and spending time with his family. We’ll miss you, Cousin John!

I'm sorry to hear about John and our sympathy and prayers are for his family and friends.
John did my income tax for a few years. I knew him through my daughter and son-in-law, Angelo and Kathy Zimbardi and often asked them about him. He will be missed.
Sincerely, Tom and Freda Williams

Cousin John had a sense of humor like no other. His quick wit made it impossible to visit with him and not laugh. I will miss his calls to keep in touch. He did a lot of good generous deeds in his life. We will all miss him.

Please accept my deepest sympathy. John was a wonderfully kind and gentle man and my family will miss him very much. I can see him pulling in my driveway in his little convertible with that beautiful smile. Words are so inadequate at a time like this. May the love of family and friends bring you peace and comfort.

Stephanie & Family, So sorry to hear about Johnny. Catherine called mom and told her Sunday afternoon and mom called me. We have often thought about Johnny through the years. In fact, about 4 years ago, I was selling my truck and he brought 2 of his 'kids' over to check it out. He really cared about Jerry & Catherine. She told us that Johnny called them every day and sometimes twice. They will really miss his calls.
Our deepest sympathy is with you and your family.

Papa John
Justin, Baby Wyatt and I will miss you dearly. We will tremendously miss our Sunday get togethers we always looked forwared to those days, they were so special to all of us and we had a lot of fun! You made such a wonderful impact on our lives and taught us so many things. You were such a great loving, caring, funny person who touched so many peoples' lives. It is such a shame that you had to go so soon. We were looking forward to so many future memories to share with you and more videos, pictures, and music especially your polka that you loved and we can't forget Mr. Frank or Margaritaville. We love you so much and you will always be in our hearts. Now you can be Wyatt & Dominique's Guardian Angel and watch over them both to keep them safe always. Just like you always said "Papa John is always going to look after you and take real good care of you and make sure you are always ok."
ALL OUR LOVE ALWAYS,
Justin, Heather, & Wyatt Phillips
