Joshua Miktarian Obituary

Joshua T. Miktarian

Joshua T. Miktarian, 33, passed away July 13, 2008.

Born in Akron, Josh has lived in Tallmadge his entire life. Josh began his law enforcement career with the Uniontown Police Department and then accepted a position with the Twinsburg Police Department where he served the department as the second K-9 Officer with partner Bagio. After 11 years, Josh was proud to return to Uniontown Police Department as a part time police officer. He was excited to utilize Bagio with his department. Owner of Gionino's Pizzeria in Sagamore Hills.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Miktarian.

Josh is survived by his wife, Holly; daughter, Thea Faith; mother, Minda Barlow of Quebeck, Tenn.; sister, Veronica Justus of Sparta, Tenn.; brother, Paul Jr. of Sparta, Tenn.; uncle to Ali and Luke Justus of Sparta, Tenn.

Josh enjoyed his four dogs, referring to them as his children prior to Thea's arrival. His most beloved dog, K-9 Bagio was his best friend. He loved rocking out with his band Barium, riding motorcycles, tailgating with his RV "Wavy Mavis". He was an avid fan of all Cleveland sports teams and the Dallas Cowboys, attending many events. Josh was a fan of talk radio, concerts, and most of all socializing! Josh had too many friends to name and continued making friends wherever he went.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, July 18, 2008 at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Mt. Zion Circle in Oakwood Village with Rev. Kevin Maxey officiating. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call 1 to 4 and 6 until 8 P.M. Thursday, July 17, 2008 at Donovan Funeral Home, 17 Southwest Ave. (on the Historic Tallmadge Circle). Memorial donations may be made to the Twinsburg Police Association, Josh Miktarian Fund at any Fifth Third Bank or the Twinsburg Police Department.

With much love and sorrow. It broke my heart to hear of this news. I have known Paul Jr. as a teenager and of course came into contact with Josh, who was always into something whether it be sports or a social affair. Though I have not had contact with Paul Jr. in ages, there are somethings and people that you just don't forget and who will be embedded in one's heart forever. Best wishes to family.

To Holly, Thea and the family,
Thank you for all you did to serve the city of Twinsburg. Josh was a gift to all of us and we will miss him. He has been around the area and we have seen him at the open houses at the poice station, when we had other officers putting car seats in for our children, and around the city. We will miss him and want to extend our deepest condolences to you and your family. Jesus died for Josh and with that precious gift Josh is resting with him peacefully looking down on all of you. Josh sacraficed himself for the city that night because any individual could have been the victim. Without his heroics and courage, more harm could have come to others. May you feel blessed as a family to have had the opportunity to live with a man who gave to all of you and to his community all he had to give. The greatest gift a man can give is to lay down his life for his friends. John 15
Josh did that and we in Twinsburg are forever grateful for his sacrafice and protection and love for his community. Thank you Josh. May God bless you with all the graces of eternal life. Holly and Thea may the comfort and strength of the suffering Jesus be with you and may you find joy in the ressurection Josh is experiencing today. God bles you all.

devastating and sorrowful, tragic time.

our Heavenly Father and His Only Begotten Son, Jesus, will comfort and
give you the strength to endure what

Mindy,

It's been a very long time since we worked together at Akron General in the Cardiac Function Dept. But I had so much fun with you and have thought of you often over the years. Your kids must have been very young then - it was around 1989-1991. I cannot imagine the magnitude of your loss. I wish I could say it will get easier with time, but the loss of a child, no matter what age, stays with you. I hope you have many loving and supportive people around you to help you through the difficult days ahead. I promise you will find light again. I have a 12-year-old daughter now, and she is my world. I wish you all the best, dear Mindy, and your family as well.

I have little ones also and all I can do is think about is you, it so reminds me of what I went through, the wife left behind. God Bless your every move. Its not easy. If you every need anything, and I know alot of people say that now, but they will never understand a loss like we have had as young widows. Live for your baby.

Holly, Baby Thea, & the Miktarian Family:

My thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time. I did not have the pleasure of ever knowing Josh , however, I feel that I have come to know just a small piece of him in these past days.

As a wife and mother of 2 small daughters myself, I can not begin to fathom the pain that you are going through. This tragedy has touched the souls of so many in our communities, including my own.

Holly, my heart breaks for you and baby Thea. Josh leaves an enormous part of himself in your little girl. He will ALWAYS be with the both of you, looking over you from above. I pray that you find peace and comfort in your memories of Josh.

God Bless the both of you and the entire Miktarian family. Godspeed Josh! May you rest in peace.

We knew Josh from Gionio's Pizza in Sagamore. I had breast cancer in 2007. Josh would always ask how I was feeling and would encourage me (especially when going through the chemo) when I picked up the pizza. He was a special young man and I will never forget him!!
My husband retired in 1990 after thirty years with the Summit County Sheriff's Dept. We are family.

Holly, Thea and Bajio. I suppose nobody will ever understand why such a tragic event happened. No words are comfort enough. The pain feels as it may go on forever. I know that is how I felt when someone was ripped from life. The pain I felt was so deep I could barely handle the amount of pain I felt. I remember some1 saying time heals all wounds. I was thinking, "No time gives the mind time to accept situations/tragic events to beyond our control." I never met Josh, but I am happy to hear he was here for a while. He will always be with you Holly and your daughter. All of you have been in my thoughts and prayers.

I can't even begin to tell you how the death of Josh has touched the depths of my heart and soul.

I never knew Josh, unfortunately, but after all the new coverage I feel like I know your whole family.

Josh inspired so many people with his love for life and his love for people. He has inspired me to get back into law enforcement to help try to make this world a better place.

Holly, I can't imagine what you are going to go through in the next, days, weeks and months. It's going to be hard, but your love for Josh, and the love he had for you and Thea will get you through. I only wish there were something more that I could do for you and your family. My heart just aches for you.

Please find comfort in the fact that Josh made an amazing impact on everyone's life that he touched, and he still is, and will continue to from above.

You, Thea, and your entire family will stay in my heart, thoughts, and prayers. I know it's hard to see now, but the Great God above only takes the best, and that's exactly what Josh was, The Absolute Best.
God Bless.

July 22, 2008

I didn't know Joshua personally, but I can tell he followed the family traditions of being a super nice person who loved to serve his community and be a mentor and friend to all. He had a plan when he came to earth to do God's work here. If we had only known how short his life here would have been, there would have been a kinder word spoken, an extra hug or kiss, more loving gestures made while he was here. I am sure that one of his missions on earth was to help others do a better job, make better choices, help others more. He leaves this legacy now for all of us to carry on this mission. He died, like Christ to make us better people on earth. Only a few of us get this privilege from God, to leave such a legacy. There is little sense to be made of what the family has had to indure during such a lose. To us left behind, it is hard for to see the why. All that can be done is to look to God and know that he took Josh for a good reason and that both of them will be looking down on his family left behind. Having been in a Police and Fire extended family as a dispatcher, I can only image your greif. I know that every day I was on duty, I hoped that everyone of the officers were safe on all their calls. I don't know what I would have done if something had happened to any of them, they were family. God bless you all and I will keep you in my prayers.

I never had the privilege of meeting Josh or any member of his family for that matter, but after reading and listening about this senseless tragedy I felt overwhelmed with feelings ranging from anger to loss to pride. I am angered that such a senseless act can change the lives of so many so quickly. Even though I didn’t know Josh, I am certain that the world has lost a very good and positive person and after witnessing the support and outreach of the community I’ve never been so proud to be a part of Northeast Ohio. The one thing I can’t do is imagine the emptiness that the Miktarian family is experiencing. I wish them well and hope that in time they will again find some comfort in family, friends, and the memories they will always have of Josh.

All the publicity shows what a GREAT person Josh was and has touched the hearts of strangers, such as myself. I was deeply saddened to hear the news about Josh and this senseless tragedy. I went to high school with Josh...though I didn't know him well, I remember him as someone who always had such a contagious smile on his face. I am praying for your family and hoping that God will help you through this. I haven't seen Josh in 17 years, but it is clear that he grew up to be a respected police officer, loving husband, and devoted father. God bless.

Zavin,

I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your nephew. He was so young and had such a promising life ahead of him. Please accept my condolences at this sad time.

I didn't know Josh personally but would drive past his home when driving around Tallmadge. How weird it will be to not see his police car there anymore.
My thoughts are with Holly, Thea, Bagio and the entire Miktarian family.

To The Miktarian Family,

As the wife of a Police Officer who has dedicated 36 years to this calling, my heart breaks for you all. This is the one nightmare no one wants to face. Please know, you are all wrapped in the comfort and love of the entire community, Josh's BROTHERS IN BLUE and God's graces.
Draw your strength from knowing he was doing what he had been chosen to do and he did his job with pride and honor!

God bless your family.

WHEN I SEE HOW MY TWO YEAR OLD GRANDAUGHTER ADORES HER FATHER (MY SON. WHO IS ALSO A POLICE OFFICER) IT BREAKS MY HEART THAT THEA WILL HAVE TO MISS THAT. YOU ALL HAVE MY VERY DEEPEST SYMPATHY. INCLUDING BAGIO. AND ESPECIALLY TO JOSH'S MOTHER - FROM A FELLOW POLICE OFFICER'S MOTHER...

My deepest sympathies on the loss of Josh. As a sibling to three police officers, and a cousin to a firefighter and two police officers, I understand the sense of worry. I can't imagine your pain, but can offer my prayers. God will watch over you all, and rest assured that your brothers and sisters in blue will take care of all of you, especially Holly and Thea. God needed an angel in blue and he found the best one.

I am very saddened to hear of the news of Josh. You don't know me but I pass by your home everyday when I go to and from work. Often I would see the squad car sitting there and say a prayer for God to keep the family in His care. I guess that the journey that God had for Josh was finished. I am very sorry that a wife has to go on without her husband and your little girl has to grow up not knowing her Daddy. Please be assured that nothing happens in this world that God does not allow. I will continue to pray for you and your daughter. May God Bless you and help you go on with this adjustment you have to face in your life.

We are so sad to hear about Josh. We both went to school with him and remember him as such a nice guy- really just a great human being. And so funny too! Hopefully you will find peace knowing that so many people were touched by Josh.
