Joshua Rookstool Obituary
Joshua S. Rookstool, 20, passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2004.
An area resident all his life, he was employed by J&R Engineering, and attended Hope United Methodist Church.
Preceded in death by his father, Randy Rookstool, in 1997, and grandparents, David and June Swope, Josh is sur vived by his mother and stepfather, Tammy and Larry Gerard; special friend, Dawn Dorse; sis ters, Sarah and Sonya Rooks tool; stepbrother, Larry Gerard III; stepsister, Amanda Gerard, all of Akron; grandparents, Anita (Fred) Lloyd of Barberton and Klan (Louise) Rookstool of Canton; aunts and uncles, Karen and Jerry Heckathorn, Dave and Deb Swope, Jim and Rustry Swope, Russ and Kathy Halsey; and numerous cousins and friends.
Friends will be welcome on Saturday, May 15, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at HOPE UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 2650 Cory Ave., where the memorial service will follow at 1 p.m., with Rev. Ken Baillis officiating. Private family interment. The family requests that memorials be made to the Josh Rookstool Memorial Fund in care of any Fifth Third Bank. I just found out about this. Klan sent me the obituary through my Mom, and my heart is just broken. I'm so sorry, and I hope you and the girls are doing okay. Many times after the divorce Tammy, I have wondered how you and the girls were doing. I am so glad to have been a part of Josh's young life, and to have had the privilege to be his grandma for the early years. I will never forget the Christmas Holidays and all the fun we had together. Josh was so special. If you need anything at all, please contact me..or just to keep in touch. Kiss the girls for me.

there is alot of things i could say about josh,he is a great rolemodel for my son jonathan.josh was a hard working young man he had 2 jobs and had a nice apartment.we all miss him kayla,marissa,jonathan,uncle bill,aunt denise and 'bone'

hey josh, this is my 4th time signing this, it jsut feels as if its a way to talk to you. I just went to see my friend justin today. He passed away in a car accident in december. So going there just made me think about you some more today. i miss you josh, i just want you to come home, i want you to be here so you can come do the 'josh butt bounce' in our pool. i remember the time when you and andy asked us to put sunblock on you but we used tanning oil! you guys looked like lobsters! There will always be a place in my heart for you,you were a big part of my life and i will never forget you big shining smile!i will never forget you, i love you and miss you! SOAR HIGH ABOVE US JOSH AND WATCH OVER US!

Josh, i didnt get to hang out with you all that much but we knew each other pretty good you and my brother were also good friends I remember all the times that we would sit in your room and play golf on the xbox and you would always beat me i remember you always feeding your snake and we would sit around the cage for a hour just to watch it eat the rabbit's we had many good times up at brian's house just hanging out you always had a bright smile on your face you had many friends which im sure miss you very deeply and wish every minute that you were still hear with them Ryan and I will miss you very much and you will always be in our hearts.

I'm so very sorry about your loss I always thought of Josh as a brother. Josh and my brother Kevin were the best of friends. they were always together and no matter where they were they always knew how to make someone laugh, and even though some of the things they did were annoying they are memories I will cherish forever. Like I knew that everytime Josh was over at our house to look above your door before going in or else you might get soaked by a cup of water waiting for you when you entered the room, Josh and Kevin were always doing stuff like that. It's just so hard to know Josh is gone but as long as everyone keeps his memories alive he will never be forgotten.

Tammy, Larry and girls...
Tammy you were a great mother and you raised Josh right.Josh knew after you got married you would be taken care of. Larry you were a great stepfather to them all.Josh was like a son to me and I feel the loss like his mother. I will miss the smile on his face and the way he would enlighten any room he walked into. He was Kevin's best friend and will be always be missed.
Those that had the pleasure of knowing him always walked away in a good mood. I remember paying him to stay up late to play games.. he would always lose..Josh was a great man and you should be blessed to have him for the 20 wonderful years you had.... Sending you all a special hug.

My deepest sympathy goes out to Josh's family and dear friends. I know the pain of loss has to be unbearable at this time. I knew Josh as his sixth grade teacher. In all of my 38 years of teaching...only a few children stand out in my memory and Josh is one of those special students who touched my heart. He was always respectful and rather shy as a 12 year old. You could always depend upon him. He had the most sincere eyes and gentle smile. Although I haven't seen him for years...I'm sure as a young adult he has touched the hearts of many. He definitely touched mine and I will never forget him. My prayers go out to his family, especially Tammy, his mother, and sisters...Sarah and Sonya.

Tammy you were a great mom to him for raising him the way he was, after you married Larry; he knew you would be ok. Larry you were a great step father, being a father to them all and Josh knew this of you. Josh will be very missed. He was a GREAT man, and for those who got the pleasure of meeting him knew this... He always had a big smile on his face and he would lite any room up with it... My heart goes out to your family. For he was a great person to know.You were lucky to have him for 20 wonderful years. Josh was like a son to us, after becoming Kevin's friend in Kenmore. They stayed friends even after we moved away, which is not very often these days..Gosh, I will miss those nights, paying them to stay up late with me to play games, and the funny laugh, with that big smile.Sending you a great big hug for the whole family, god needed him with him.
