Katharine House Obituary

Katherine (Kathy) House, of Cuyahoga Falls (Northampton), passed away peacefully on October 1st after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Kathy was born in Akron on July 18, 1945, to Walter and Caroline Kuss. She attended Old Trail School and graduated from Kent State University. From KSU, Kathy went on to teach English at Woodridge High School, and later furthered her interest in words and graphics work as owner/operator of The Print House, a printing business in Cuyahoga Falls.

Kathy spent years as an avid equestrian, passionate about horses and all animals. She very much enjoyed sailing, travel, and any good adventure, particularly if it involved meeting new and interesting people. Times spent at her family farm in Knox County, Ohio were among her favorite moments. Most recently, Kathy was thrilled to become a grandmother and treasured the time spent with her two granddaughters.

Kathy is survived by her son, Pete Steiner (Cheryl) of Hillsoro, Tenn.; stepfather, Charles Myhre of Panama City Beach, Fla.; dear friend, Neil Potts of Stow, Ohio; brother, Jack Kuss (Bobbie) of Rochester, N.Y.; and granddaughters, Gabrielle and Kayla.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, October 10 at 11 a.m. at Northampton United Methodist Church, 852 West Bath Road in Cuyahoga Falls. The family is happy to receive friends beginning at 10 a.m. Memorial donations may be made to the Hospice of Visiting Nurse Service/Justin T. Rogers Care Center, 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, Ohio 44333; (330) 665-1455. The family wishes to express their thanks to the Hospice staff.

Hi Pete,

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. I always loved taking riding lessons from her. Without her, my mom and I would never have known about Berea College and I would have never had that wonderful experience. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Take care,
Kim

Neil - I'm so grateful for the wonderful day we had on the train last year after our OTS reunion. I'll always remember the Christmas caroling parties Kathy had for our class every year - and her sunny disposition; she was so supportive during my visits to my mother in Cleveland. She will be missed.

To Kathy's Family and Friends,
I am so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. She was quick to welcome me when I became her neighbor 24 years ago and she always had time to stop and talk, whenever our paths crossed. Her love of animals (especially horses and dogs) and teaching dressage were just two of her passions, and I saw her strength and determination as she worked to help preserve the rural residential character of the area. I couldn't have asked for a better neighbor. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this time of loss, I know she will be missed by many.

Dear Pete,
Sorry for your loss. Your mother hired me years ago and taught me allot. I am thankful for the opportunity of knowing, learning and sharing her time. One of our favorite
places to eat was Otani's restaurant in the valley. She had a passion for life. I will always remember her smile.
