Lester B. "Mac" McKee

Born in Birming ham, Ala., he moved to Delhi, N.Y., as a toddler. Lester joined the U.S. Navy in 1940. He was a veteran of the Pearl Harbor tragedy and was awarded a citation for his actions on that day. While sta tioned in Akron as an inspector at Goodyear Aerospace, Lester met and married his wife of 59 years, Mary Scott from Stow. He was discharged from the Navy in 1945 and joined the U.S. Air Force in 1947, retiring in 1962 after 16 years of service. He worked as a boiler operator at Akron City Hospital until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of Evangel Temple Assembly of God since 1966.

Lester was preceded in death by parents, Leslie and Bessie McKee; grandson, Victor Rothenstine, Jr.; and adopted daughter/granddaughter, Kelly McKee-Rice. He is survived by wife, Mary Scott-McKee; children, Beckie, Chester, Gina, Di ana, and Eugene; grandchildren, April, Bryon, Paul, Michael, Andrew; great-grandchildren, Travis, Matthew, Kryc ta, Kourtnie, Kayla, Keli and Sarah; and several brothers and sisters located out of state.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at 12 Noon at Evangel Temple Assembly of God, 688 Dan St., Akron, with Pastor Jeff Wade officiating. Calling hours will be held at the church one hour prior to services. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post #3383 at Northlawn Cem etery. (ADAMS-MASON, 330- 535-9186.)
