Lisa Burns Obituary

Lisa A. Burns, age 50, passed away October 18, 2010, after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer.

Lisa was the beloved wife of Mark Burns and the proud mother of Mark, Jr., Joshua and Zachary. She is also survived and will be deeply missed by her parents, Charles and Theresa Knauer; brothers, John (Cindy), David (Lori), Thomas (Melissa); sister, Lynn (Ed); nephews, David, Brian and Andrew Rich, Michael and Jason Knauer and the newest love of her life, her sunshine, niece, Frances Knauer.

Most recently Lisa worked as a nurse at the Summit Hand Center of the Crystal Clinic-a job she dearly loved. Lisa inspired all around her with her love of good times, her wit, strength of spirit and passion for life. She loved the ocean-especially family vacations in Florida-babysitting Frances and her dog, Bella. But her greatest loves were her husband and three boys.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Sunday, October 24, at 6 p.m. at Grace Church of Norton, 3970 Cleveland-Massillon Road, Norton, 44203. Friends will be received at the church before the service on Sunday from 5 to 6 p.m. The family suggests memorials to her church, Grace Church of Norton or to the Cameos of Caring Endowed Scholarship, Department of Development, Martin University Center, The University of Akron, Akron, Ohio, 44325, for the education of aspiring nurses. Lisa wanted to honor her chosen profession and all the wonderful nurses who supported and cared for her during her illness. (Billow FAIRLAWN Chapel)

To Mark and all of Lisa's family,
I am so sorry to hear of this very sad news and obvious community loss of Lisa. I had been trying to contact Lisa for the past 1.5 years for our Firestone HS Class of '79 reunion last November, to no avail. I continued to try to locate her for our private class directory, and I now think I may have had the wrong address or email. We all so missed her last year, and had we known of her diagnosis, we would have rallied around her in support and friendship through reconnections. I am so sorry we are all too late. Lisa was so sweet and very kind to others in high school, so it doesn't surprise me at all that she later became a well respected nurse, wife, and mother. May you all find the strength to get through the coming days, weeks and months ahead, and may Lisa rest in peace. God bless her and all of you. She was, is, and will continue to be missed.
