Lisa Chuma Obituary

Lisa Renee Chuma (Drasny)

During life's journey we are blessed to know special people that touch our hearts. My daughter, Lisa (Drasny) Chuma, was one of those people.

On May 11, 2009, Lisa said her final goodbye to those that loved her with the same strength and courage she exhibited in life. Her five year battle with cancer was fought with dignity, faith, hope and love. Her determination, positive attitude and loving spirit were remarkable. As her suffering intensified, she continued to manage a smile, a wink and a spirit of acceptance. She will always be my hero.

Preceded in death by grandparents, George and Clara Watson and Joseph and Mildred Drasny, Lisa is survived by loving and most precious children, Nicole and Nicholas Chuma; devoted mother, Cheri L. Drasny; father, Jerry B. Drazny (Eve); brother, Jerry B. Drazny (Holly); sisters, Arryane A. McPipkin (Gregory) and Melissa Drazny; special cousins, Sharon A. Young (David) and Johanna LaVelle; dearest friend and confidant, Alayna Warrington; and very special friend and supporter, John W. Grimm.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Rose Lane Skilled Nursing Facility for the exceptional care given to Lisa. Their genuine affection and concern will never be forgotten.

Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. SATURDAY at St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 755 N. Cleveland Ave., Mogadore 44260, with Fr. Nicholas Wyslutsky officiating. Interment at Chestnut Hill Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church 5 to 8 p.m. FRIDAY, where the Parastas will take place at 7:30 p.m., and one hour prior to the service Saturday at church. For my darling Lisa:

Daughters are like morning light christening the day

Daughters are like April rain gently touching May

Daughters are like brilliant stars lighting up the night

Daughters are like eagles wings waiting to take flight

Daughters are like precious gems more valuable than gold

Daughters are the memories our hearts will always hold. I love you, Mom

Worked with Cheri at Maloney-Deuber many years ago. Heard a lot about Lisa in her growing up years.
Lisa is another bright star in heaven as she has exchanged her earthly body for a heavenly one.

Dear Lisa,

I think about you often and it saddens me greatly that you've left us. Your mom, children and friends remain in my thoughts and prayers. My best friend left me one month before you left so I know how deeply Alayna hurts. If she or your Mom ever need a shoulder to cry on, please contact me.

To the Drasny family, My heart is full of sadness for the loss of your Lisa. We first met in the hospital born just a few days apart. We had the same middle name and became the absolute BEST of friends. We went camping with her dad, did fun things with her mom, and always had a great meal prepared by her grandmother Clara and dressing up as girlfriends do. As I look at pictures of her beautiful blonde hair and bright smile I feel blessed to have had her in my life. As time went on after High school we went our seperate ways but once a friend always a friend. To Nicolas and Nicole, your parents will always be watching you from heaven with god guiding you through your life. With Deep Sympathy and Peace.

I first meet Lisa at Isham Elementary School…it was a pleasure growing up and graduating with Lisa. May her memory live on with her children, family and friends. Lisa was a very sweet person. My thoughts and prayers go out to Nicholas, Nichole and the rest of Lisa’s family.

Cheri & Family,
I'm so sorry for your loss. Lisa was my next door neighbor on Acme and was my first friend when my family moved to Wadsworth right before 7th grade. She was one of the nicest girls I ever met and I truly appreciated her friendship. She made the transition to a new school so much easier. I remember getting into trouble once when we decorated her bedroom walls with magazine pictures from ceiling to floor. Her grandparents were not exactly thrilled with how we transformed her room. She was always so gracious in sharing with her friends and was truly a beautiful person inside and out. Please know that your family is in my thoughts and prayers.

I went to school with Lisa, she was a beautiful soul then and I am sure she will remain that way in all of our hearts. She will sadly be missed. My heart goes out to her children with the loss of both of their parents.

Nicole & Nick,
Your parents have loved you from the minute you were born. They always have and they always will. Parents give their kids alot of things but the most important things they have given you is their love and their guidance. They've taught you so many simple things like when to brush your teeth, how to make friends, how to do your school work, when to say please and thank you, how to be kind to others and so much more "stuff"! All of these things will stay with you forever and have made you who you are today. They did all of that because they loved you. Parents always love their kids no matter what, no matter where. And now, all of the relatives who were special to your Mom and Dad will continue to give you their love and guidance. Your friends at Granger Elementary think about you every day. God bless you both and all of your family.

I dont know your family, but I read the paper today and it brought tears to my eyes. I am so sorry for your pain, and I am so sorry for the tremendous loss. This is the part of living that makes it so hard, to lose those you love soo very much! We all live this life as well, and know you are not alone, and it happens to all of us. Just know even the strangers you will never meet are praying for you all. It is better to have lived and loved, than never have had the chance to live at all.

Dear Cheri, My thoughts and prayers go to you and Lisa's entire family in this time of great loss. I met Lisa in 6th grade at Central Middle School in Mr. Helke's class. I will always remember her sweet smile and gentle spirit. I fondly recall the fun times we had back then especially our dance routine in the talent show to the song "we are family" and the awesome Baskin Robbins ice cream bithday party she had. Life is precious and all to short. The world is a better place because Lisa was in it! Sincerely, Julie
