Marilynn E. Straub (Akers, Elliott) was born August 5, 1914 and passed away January 13, 2008.
Marilynn was born in Henryville, Tenn., and lived most of her life in Akron.
She spent 30 years in teaching cosme-tology in Akron and Wadsworth. She attended Kent State and the University of Akron. She owned and operated a number of beauty shops in the area. She also owned and operated restaurants and a motel in other states. Another area of endeavor was buying properties; especially her house on Merriman Rd., in which many people stopped to ask her about her beautiful large rose garden. She enjoyed gardening and preserving foods.
Her big attribute to the family was her huge and delicious dinners she would prepare for the holidays.
She leaves behind, her children, Nanci Geffken of Cuyahoga Falls, William and Jan Marie Elliott of Wadsworth, James and Kathelen Elliot of Uniontown, Jack and Tara Akers of Wadsworth; six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She will be greatly missed by her family.

I was a cosmetology student under Mrs. Straub at Hower Vocational (class of '67). She was ever the lady, her southern roots couldn't be missed. I have fond memories of her.

Mrs. Straub was my teacher at Wadsworth High Cosmetology in 1970-71. She was an inspiration to all of us. I've thought of her often over the years. May she rest in peace.
