Marissa Norwood Obituary
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her father, Marvin Norwood (Sheila); a brother, Adrian Alati; a sister, LaVonne Christian; maternal grandparents, Patricia and Climon Lee III; great-grandmother, Lillian Lee; uncles, Climon Lee IV (Allyson) and Melvin Norwood, Jr.; aunts, Melanie Burney, Melisa McVay (Michael), Dorothy Newell (Brian), Lawanda Norwood, Patricia Norwood, Melva Williams, and a host of other relatives and friends.
The family extends its appreciation to Akron Children's, Akron Public Schools, St. Vincent Elementary, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Strickland's Ice Cream, and the FOMs (Friends of Marissa) around the country for their prayers, love and support.
Services will be held on Saturday, December 26, 2009 at 12 p.m. at Stewart & Calhoun Funeral Home, 529 W. Thornton St., Akron, OH 44307, Dr. Dominic Alati officiating. Friends may call at the chapel from 9 a.m. until time of service. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to P.O. Box 5767. Donations in Marissa's name may be made at any Key Bank branch.

Life is to be cherished no matter how long it lasts. For some the term lifetime extends for decades and for some a lifetime is but a few years. Either way it is to be lived to the fullest. I have no doubt that Marissa lived a full life and cherished every moment of it.

Ohhh we today you were on my mind so tough lil sis. Just to know all the time I missed I will never be able to make it up in the flesh. Im sad but also so joyful to know that fact because you are in heaven amongst our beautiful Grandparents and I just wish I could hold you one more time. I am deeply sadden to just find out that Marissa passed. My heart goes out to you and the entire family. She touched so many lives and educated us all on how to remain strong through sickness and health. We still remember the time we met your beautiful daughter and niece Marissa a couple of years ago at JC Penny's, and are sad to hear about her passing. But, we have faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that she is resting peacefully with Him. In His Word, He reminds us that "When we are absent from the body we are present with Him". things have been happening lately, well,my sister Lilly wasn't feeling well today, so we decided thet we should bring her to the doctor. There were not any spaces until late today. But the nurse heard about my mom (Bunny Oldham) and how she helped Marissa, so she squeezed in an appointment for Liily in the morning. Marissa is shining down on everyone, again.

To Marissa family I never knew your daughter but I saw a artical about her story in the paper. At the end of reading it I was in tears.
