Michael Slinkosky Obituary

Michael J. Slinkosky Jr., 92 , a resident of Mountain Laurel Nursing Home, Clearfield, formerly of Glen Hope, died January 31, 2012 at DuBois Regional Medical Center.

Born November 1, 1919 in Smoke Run, son of the late Michael Sr. and Annie (Kowal) Slinkosky. He was preceded in death by wife, the former Norma Boyle on June 18, 2009, infant twin sons, sister, Frances Price; and brothers, Martin, Albert, and Jake. He is survived by his brothers and sisters, Mary Malan of Paramus, N.J., Betty Potkolitsky of Tonawanda, N.Y., Delores Yebernetsky (Harry) of Glen Hope, Pa., Catherine Smolko (Martin) of Fallentimber, Pa., James of Boca Raton, Fla., Adam (Nellie) of Sharon Springs, N.Y., Andrew (Bonnie) of Akron, Ohio. Also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.

He was an Army Veteran of World War ll where he served as a Corporal and was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with six Bronze Stars and one Bronze Arrowhead. He worked for Good Year Tire Company, Akron, Ohio and retired in 1983. Mike enjoyed bowling and was a member of Coalport V.F.W. and St. Basil Catholic Church, Coalport, where Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, Rev. Zab Amar, Celebrant. Committal Crown Crest Cemetery, Hyde, Pa. Friends will be received from 3 to 7 P.M. Friday at the Gibbons Funeral Home, Coalport, where a Vigil Service will be held Friday. Military Rites in charge of Coalport V.F.W. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to St. Basil Catholic Church in Mike's memory.
