Nelson L. Gerstenslager, 68, of Akron, passed away March 9, 2008.
Nelson owned his own salvage company and was an avid collector of guns, knives, and coins. He loved spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all who knew him.
Nelson was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret and his father, Norman. He is survived by his sons, Brian (Brenda) and Brent; mother, Kathryn Harig; sisters, Naomi (Lee) Brown and Sandra (George) Barnes; brothers, Norman (Linda), James (Valerie), and Gary; seven grandchildren; and his good friend, Joe Bezold.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 12 to 2 p.m., followed by a 2 p.m. memorial service at NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 131 N.Canton Rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Nelson's family. I am so sorry to hear of the loss of your dad. He and my dad sure had a colorful life that gave them so many memories. Your mom was an angel who took great care of them in their hayday.
