Sara Wolfe-Schlayer

December 6, 2007

Noah and I were children together. We were neighbors on Stanton Avenue in S. Akron. My name back then was Sara Wolfe. Noah, Billy Farrenback and I were buddies, from about age 3 through age 6, when my family moved away. I have many happy memories of adventures we had as kids, playing hide and seek, talking Pig Latin, and just being kids. Once when Noah was home alone, we decided to make fudge in his kitchen. Although we were too young to read a recipe, we found lots of "ingredients", dumped them in a big bowl, and generally wrecked their kitchen. When Noah's mom came home & saw the mess, I was afraid. But she just laughed and cleaned up the kitchen. -- Noah loved to play marbles & was very good at it. Also, we'd buy bubble gum that had a baseball card in each one. I'd give Noah my baseball cards, & he'd give me his bubble gum. He had a Velveeta cheese box full of late 1940s baseball cards -- Joe DiMaggio, etc. I've often wondered through the years if he kept those cards, and how much they would be worth now. -- My sympathies to Noah's family at his passing.
