Patricia Cress Obituary
Patricia Joan "Patti" Cress, 50, of Canton, Ohio, and Naples, Fla., passed away unexpectedly Sunday at University Hospital in Cleveland, with family and friends at her side.
Born in Can ton, Ohio, on Nov. 20, 1952, she was a 1970 graduate of Timken High School. She had formerly owned and oper ated for 15 years the Scissor Wiz ard Salon until retiring in 1993. She was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, the Stark County Humane Society, and the Humane Society of Naples, Fla. As a breast cancer survivor, she helped many women with their struggles against this dreaded disease. For many years she had been an avid golfer and was a member of Brookside Country Club and Tiburon Golf Club in Naples, Fla. Patti also enjoyed her volunteer work with the Firestone NEC Golf Tournament.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gene Ferguson; her mother, Maxine Ferguson Boltres; and brother-in-law, Philip A. Cress. Survivors include her husband, Steven P. Cress of Canton, Ohio; her stepfather, Richard Boltres of North Canton; her sister and brother-in-law, Karen and Jon Ohde of Tulsa, Okla.; two brothers and sisters-in- law, Scott and Donna Ferguson of Portage Lakes, and daughter, Ni cole Ross of Wickliffe, Ohio, and Kent and Kathy Ferguson of Canton, Ohio, and daughter, Megan Ferguson; and her feline compan ion, Misty.
A celebration of Patti's life and funeral mass will be offered at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Rev. Fr. Brad ford Helman to celebrate. Burial will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, followed by a celebration reception at Brook side County Club for family and friends of Patti. Calling hours at the Reed Funeral Home TONIGHT from 6 to 9, and at St. Michael's Catholic Church prior to the mass Friday, from 9 to 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Stark County Humane Society, P.O. Box 7077, Canton, Ohio 44705; the Brook side Country Club Scholarship Fund, 1800 Canton Ave. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44708; or St. Mi chael's Catholic Church, 3430 St. Michael's Blvd. N.W., Canton, Ohio 44718.
