Paul Neal Obituary

Paul E. Neal

Paul E. Neal, 75, dedicated Christian, devoted husband, and loving father and grandfather, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, February 27, 2008.

Born on October 20, 1932 to Paul Neal Sr. and Ruth (Maddox) Neal, Paul resided in Mogadore most of his life. After four years in the U. S. Navy, Paul became owner and manager of Neal's Market for 35 years. A respected member of the Mogadore community, Mr. Neal was a charter member of the Mogadore Jaycees, served on the School Board, and assisted with the development of the Village Charter. In later years, Paul enjoyed a second career in the real estate business. He was also a charter member and past president of Port-Summit Rotary. He served his church faithfully for over 50 years. He was currently an active member of Maranatha Bible Church where he performed several duties, including Church Deacon.

He leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Elaine; daughter Tracey (Doug) Blackburn, of Colorado Springs, Colo; daughter, Paula Neal, of Portland, Ore.; son, Bruce Neal, of Akron, Ohio; daughter, Mary Ruth Neal, of Sacramento, Calif.; former daughter-in-law, Laurie Neal, of Akron, Ohio; and grandchildren, Seth Bremer, and Andrew and Claire Neal. He also leaves behind his sister, Phyllis (Walter) Stover, of Moraga, Calif.; brother-in-law, Ken (Peg) Gustaevel of Akron, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was loved and admired by his family and faithful friends and will forever be in their hearts.

The family wishes to express their sincere thanks to the staff of Hospice of Summa for their kindness and care during Paul's brief illness.

A celebration of Paul's life will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2008, at 12 noon, at Maranatha Bible Church, 1424 Killian Road (at the corner of Pickle Rd. and Killian Rd.), with Pastor Butch Pursley officiating. Friends may call at the church for ONE HOUR prior to the service, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon. Memorials may be made to Maranatha Bible Church or to the Port-Summit Rotary.

I will never forget the time I went into the store, before Paul knew who I was, and tried to get him to cash a check and he said "NO, I don't even know you", and I told him we were related and he said " I don't think so" then I told him to look at the name on the check and he started laughing.

My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this time of sorrow.
May God be with you all.

Dear Neal Family:
Frequenting Neal's Market was part of growing up in Mogadore. Paul and Bob were great to we kids regardless of whether we were shopping for our mom (list in hand) or just getting some kind of confection for ourselves. Paul had a smile that you never would forget! Thanks for the memories, may YOURS sustain you!

Neal family and Mary Ruth,
Many years at Arlington are fond memories. I am now a Mogadore resident and your family is thought about with great respect. I would see your mom and dad from time to time and your dad always remembered who I was and that meant alot. Your family and mine were bound by our Christian family with the years at Arlington, memories that I know we will never forget. Especially the years we toured with the Ambassadors....has it been that long ago? Your dad is where he belongs now and at peace with no pain. I lost my dad 3 years ago and it is never easy. My prayers are with you .

To the Neal family, my sympathy to all of you. Neal's Market was always a part of Mogadore and Paul was a great man. A great Christian example to those of us who remember him at the Arlington Memorial Baptist Church. God Bless you as we know he is now "minding the store" with a heavenly view!

Mary Ruth,
I am sorry for your loss. How fortunate for you to have had such a wonderful and respected father. Our families go way back. Both my mom and brother worked for Paul at the market and I was lucky to have lived on the next block and blessed to have found a lifelong friend in you. I'm always a phone call away. Our deepest sympathy.

Please accept our condolences....the Neal's ran the nicest home town grocery store. Whenever you went in you ALWAYS knew someone. Be it another customer or the people that worked there. But always a BIG hello from Paul. I do not think there was a person in town that did't know Mr Paul Neal. He was good to kids giving them their first starts to the job world. Paul will always be remembered as a wonderful man....God bless his family...you have something that you can never let go of, and that is your memories.....

My deepest sympathy to the family of Paul Neal. I remember fondly the wonderful community grocery store that offered only the finest meats and friendly conversations usually with Paul. When one thinks of Mogadore, you can't help but think of Neal's grocery. Mary J. (Knapp) Mandel.
