Phyllis B. Lawrence

Phyllis B. Lawrence, 93, of Hudson, died Wednesday, April 14, 2010 at Laurel Lake Care Center.

She was born April 21, 1916 in Wilmington, Del. to Fred and Ethel W. (Woodman) Becker. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Kent, where she was an Elder, a Deacon and a member of the Bell Choir. She was also a member of the church quilters and the Christian Women's Fellowship. She attended college for two years prior to getting married, then after the death of her husband returned to college graduating with a Bachelors degree from Hiram College.

She is survived by son, C. Steve (Virginia Marie) Lawrence of Tallmadge; daughter, Abigayle Lawrence of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Scott (Tempa) Lawrence of South Euclid, Carol (Ben) Dunlap of Kent, Valerie Uncapher of Florida, Veronica (Greg) Briggs of Seville, Venessa Holcomb of Mantua, T.J. (Amber) Blomgren of Tallmadge, Valinda Blomgren of Akron and Jeremy Blomgren of South Carolina; and twenty two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles T. Lawrence M.D. in 1986.

Calling hours will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 16th at Bissler & Sons Funeral Home in Kent. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 17th at the First Christian Church in Kent, with Rev. Rebecca Heller and Pastor John Wilson officiating. Burial will be at Standing Rock Cemetery in Kent. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 335 W. Main Street, Kent, OH 44240.
