Ray Reinhart Obituary

Ray Reinhart, 64, of Tallmadge, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Friday, February 17th, 2012 in Oldsmar, Florida. Ray fought a lifelong battle with a debilitating arthritic condition. Through his struggle with his condition and his continued passion for life, he inspired everyone that he came in contact with. It was impossible to know Ray and not be truly amazed by his strength of will and the openness of his heart. He spent a lifetime surrounded by friends and family that were the center of his universe. Ray taught us all that family is never defined by blood alone.

Ray was born on August 10th 1947 in Akron, Ohio to Grace and Wilbur (Ray) Reinhart. He was a 1965 graduate of Cuyahoga Falls High School and went on to marry his beloved high school sweetheart, Charlotte Wakefield Reinhart, on August 31st, 1968. They celebrated 43 years of marriage together. Ray attended Kent State University and worked as a tool and die maker who took great pride in his work.

Ray is survived by his wife; his son, Erik (Jenny) Reinhart; his daughter, Renee (Matt) Mihalyov; his grandchildren, Kyle, Jordan, Connor, and Parker; his brother, Mike (Sue) Reinhart; his brother-in-law, Gregg (Kathy) Wakefield; and his niece, Kendra Fonteyne. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Grace Reinhart; his in-laws, Tom and Shirley Wakefield; and his nephew, Chad Wakefield.

Services will take place at Dunn-Quigley Stow Chapel (Kent Rd. at Rt. 91) on Friday, February 24th at 11 a.m. and will be officiated by Pastor Keith Johnson. Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 on Thursday, February 23rd. A private burial will take place at Chestnut Hill Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Arthritis Foundation, NE Ohio Chapter (4630 Richmond Rd. #240, Cleveland, OH 44128-5954.

I never heard Reiny say the following -God never said life would be easy, He just promised it would be worth it.- but I think of him when I read it.

Charlotte & Family,
So Sorry to hear the horrible news about Ray. What a wonderful person!!! He will truley be missed!!!

When I am gone, release me -let me go
I have so many things to see and do.-
You must not tie yourself to me with tears
Be happy that we had so many years
I gave you love, you can only guess
how much you gave me in happiness
I thank you for the love each have shown
But now it is time I travelled alone
So grieve awhile for me if grieve you must,
Then let your grief be comforted by trust -
It is only for a while that we must part
So bless those memories within your heart.-
I will not be far away, for life goes on.
So if you need me, call and I will come. -
Though you cannot see or touch me, I will be near -
And if you listen with your heart, you will hear -
All of my love around you, soft and clear.-
Then when you must come this way alone,
I will greet you with a smile and a "welcome home"

Our thoughts and prayers are with you always. May God Bless you during this difficult time. May Ray rest in peace.
He was an Angel on earth and now he is an Angel in Heaven!!!!

Love You Both,

Sue Schweikert Harman

Dearest Char,
Ray and you have been a part of who I am for most of my life, and I have treasured your friendship. Ray was so much more than his affliction; he was funny and caring, and possessed an enormous inner strength that never ceased to amaze me. May his strength help to carry you along this difficult journey. God bless you, my friend.
