Richard Gershom

Richard Gershom, Sr., 81, went home to be with the Lord on May 27, 2018.

He was born December 5, 1936 in Steubenville, Ohio to the late James and Elizabeth Gershom. Rich retired from B. F. Goodrich in 1999 and was a member of Manchester United Methodist Church. Rich loved being very involved with his children's activities, coaching Little League baseball, Pee Wee football and band shows. He was the #1 fan for Mount Union College football and baseball. He had spent his 19 years of retirement traveling and doing bus trips with his AARP friends, but most of all, following his four granddaughters with their softball games, 4-H, track and band activities.

Rich was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, James Gershom, Robert Gershom, and Marybelle Hebert.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Linda; children, Richard Gershom Jr., David (Lisa) Gershom, and Susan Shreve; granddaughters, Victoria Gershom, Taylor Gershom, Mackenzie Gershom, and Kelsey Shreve; siblings,

Margaret (Ted) Marcum, Kenneth Gershom, and Ronald Gershom; sister-in-law, Laura Gershom, and brother-in-law, Charles Hawsman.

Friends may call at Bacher Funeral Home, 3326 Manchester Rd., Akron, OH 44319 on Thursday, May 31, 2018 from 4 to 7 p.m. Services will be held on Friday, June 1, 2018 at the funeral home at 11 a.m., with Pastor Dale Gharky officiating. Interment at Crown Hill Cemetery in Twinsburg, Ohio.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Manchester United Methodist Church, 5625 Manchester Rd., New Franklin, OH 44319, in memory of Rich.
