FT. MYERS, Fla. -- Dick McClure passed away April 14th, 2015 in Ft. Myers, Fla.

He had previously served in both the Air Force and Army before becoming a police officer in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio where he retired with 34 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Sandy and his children and stepchildren: Bill McClure, Bob McClure, Chrissie McClure, Scot Graham (Kim), Monica Ward (Bob) and Greg Graham (Neena); and grandchildren, Andrea Smith, Robby McClure, Zach Graham, Michael McClure, Nate Graham, Nate Ledford, Victoria Ward, Natalie Ledford, Isaiah Graham, Julianna Ward, Lucy Graham.

Services have taken place in Ft. Myers.

I will always remember Dick. He was my training officer in Cuyahoga Falls. Although I already had experience as a patrol officer, I was amazed with the common sense and caring approach that Dick used to instill in me the community policing approach to law enforcement before it had a name. Throughout my career, Dick was an inspiration to me, and a friend I could depend on when I needed advice. I miss him, and think of him often.

Sandy and family,

My heart breaks hearing that Dick has passed. I met Dick when he became my training officer. He imparted much insight, and we became friends quickly and I will miss him. Our prayers go out to the family.
