TOGETHER AGAIN
Rita Ann (Brown) Combs, age 86, of Stow, joined her beloved husband of 48 years, Robert E. Combs in heaven on Sunday, March 4, 2018.
She was born in Vincennes, Indiana on August 22, 1931. Rita volunteered at Stow Parks and Recreation, Linus Project, Summa Hospital and Warm Up Akron Crocheters. Rita loved taking care of her cats, cooking for her family, and traveling to the beach. She was a proud and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert E. Combs; her sisters, Ilene Brown and Darline Ferguson; her parents, Marion and Lueanna (Wiseman) Brown; and her close friend, Jim Leonti. Rita is survived by children, Bruce (Joyce) Combs of Westerville, Brent (Lesa) Combs of Oceanside, Calif., and Bryan (Deanna) Combs of Snellville, Ga.; grandchildren, Angela (Ben) Fry, Dr. Bryan (Cindy) Combs, Craig Combs (fiancée, Brittaney Johnson), Bryant "Goo" (Dawn) Combs, Brandon Tester, Brittany (Shon) Christy, Lindsay (Melvin) Montford and Shannon (Donald) Johnson; great-grandchildren, Shawn Combs, Keegan Fry, Nolan Fry, Lachlan Fry, Evangeline Fry, Malcolm Combs and Killian Combs; many nieces and nephews, and her best friend, Melda Fisher.
Family and friends will be received prior to the service on Thursday, March 8, 2018, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hopkins Lawver Funeral Home, 547 Canton Road (Route 91), Akron (Ellet), Ohio 44312. I was so sorry to hear about Rita's passing.
She was like a second mother to my brothers and me. Her and my brother Jim Leonti took care of one another for many years. Jim passed away in November of 2017 so they are back together and can talk more. Jim will be also able to meet Bob. We all heard many wonderful things about him.
Again, I am so very sorry for your loss. She will be missed in a big way. God bless her. I am so sorry I did not make it to the funeral home but I didn't know until after the fact. I will keep the family in my prayers. God bless all of you.

I just found out about the passing of Rita. My sincere sympathy. Several years ago she helped me out by keeping my mom company while I worked. They enjoyed talking about lots of things, especially crocheting. She also baked some real goodies. Her Ho Ho cake was delectable. May she rest in peace.
